Villa Red Chalet in the heart of Armação de Pêra, was built during the turn of the 20th century. The design was inspired by the opulent luxury of the Belle Époque era emerging in the South of France. Originally known as the Chalet dos Caldas e Vasconcelos, this beautiful villa remained a family summer home for almost 80 years.
Villa Red Chalet is a beautiful 4-bedroom villa full of character. The villa is now also listed as a historical building and a famous landmark on the Armação de Pêra coastline. During renovation, as many as possible, of the original elements were retained. These include a unique wooden floor, antique chandeliers, and also a spectacular staircase – all lovingly recreated. The Moorish influences of the architecture are all elegant reminders of the region’s rich cultural history. Keeping with geometric designs on the shutters and ceilings.
The property is in two sections, the main house and also the White House.
Bridging the gap between the comforts of the present and the romance of the past. The Villa has a large open kitchen which opens into a lounge and dining area with a large terracotta terrace and spectacular seafront setting. There is also a fully equipped kitchen and a WC.
On the ceilings, sculpted grape vines are a reminder of those that once thrived in front of the villa itself.
The charming staircase leads to two ensuite bedrooms. Both with king size beds and a sitting room where a terrace makes the most of the breathtaking views. A secret door leads to a further rooftop terrace that, many years ago, the owner built to hear the townsfolk sing songs dedicated to local fishermen at the church of “A Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes.”
A small guest house in front of the property reimagines some of the distinctive character of the main house in a more contemporary aesthetic.
It offers a duplex suite with a lounge and a terrace downstairs. On the 1st floor is an ensuite bedroom with a king-size bed, and a further self-contained studio that has a lounge, bedroom (queen-size bed), shower room, and balcony.
