The Resort
An extensive resort, it is centered around the award-winning Marina. Home to hundreds of sleek yachts, this is the perfect people-watching spot.Â
No matter the time of day, there is always activity at the marina with several trendy boutiques to tempt you, as well as plenty of boat trips heading out to sea to visit the famous caves or search for dolphins in the wild. Morning or evening, the marina is the place to be.

Beaches
Vilamoura has two beaches – Praia de Vilamoura and Praia da Falésia. They are actually the same endless stretch of beach that runs for miles, separated by the marina. The sand is fine and golden, the water is clear and the beaches offer areas with sunbeds for lazy days and lots of water sports for some fun in the sea. There are plenty of beachside restaurants too, serving all day long, some with live music and sunset sessions in the evenings.
Things to do
There is a fabulous choice of restaurants and bars to choose from, ranging from fine dining with a view, to rollicking Irish bars with live music and pub grub.
Some of our favorites are Thai Beach Club, O Marisco and just outside Vilamoura the fabulous Os Agostinos and Gaivota.
There is plenty to do and see. See the fascinating roman ruins at Cerro da Vila, play mini golf, explore nature trails, and there is a great tennis and padel centre.Â
There are several golf courses that attract golfers all year round. Boat trips are a very popular activity here – you can opt to go fishing, cruise along the coast, or enjoy a day at sea in a private luxury yacht.
Holidays
There are several popular developments offering holiday homes to suit everyone. Pinhal Velho is one of the most prestigious, with beautiful villas set on large grounds, offering comfort and privacy, yet only a few minutes drive from the holiday fun at the marina.
Vilasol is on the outskirts of Vilamoura. A popular, family-friendly resort, there are restaurants and bars here, as well as a golf course. Just a short walk outside Vilasol are several typically Portuguese restaurants (some of our favourites!) offering feasts of local dishes and seafood. And Aquashow waterpark is just a few minutes away too. Vilasol is a tranquil location that has plenty of facilities nearby and is just a few minutes drive from the centre of Vilamoura.
